About Exotic Leis

Exotic Leis.com grew out of our love and passion to make beautiful flower leis for our family. We have a deep appreciation for the splendor and tradition of the Hawaiian Islands. Our desire to share this gift with the world started with a couple of our family members gathering together to make leis for special occasions. Ohana or family is what makes our business unique, the ability to share tradition and happiness with each other. We wanted others to feel the joy in receiving beautiful leis as a sign of celebration and affection. Each of our leis are hand-made with special care and love.

We offer an extensive variety of beautiful flower, kukui nut, money leis, and maile leis for every occasion. Giving leis for graduations, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries are becoming very common. We can customize your lei with special nuts or flowers and add money to make it unique and memorable.

Lei Significance

AS A TOKEN OF LOVE, greetings, friendship, admiration, farewell, or simply the aloha spirit, “a lei in Hawai’i is given on birthdays, graduations, weddings, and almost all holidays. Lei giving is a long established tradition in the Islands that is part of celebrating many important occasions and events.

Today the lei has become more than necklaces of fresh flowers. In particular, the money lei has become a very popular gift. Dollar bills folded origami-style and strung into a lei put a contemporary, cultural twist to the traditional lei. The concept of contemporary money lei in Hawai’i ultimately evolved from merging Japanese and Hawaiian customs. No one can say when the first money lei was made and given, but money lei became a trend that continues to be popular among many people in Hawai’i. A money lei is a very popular way to wish someone well during such times as a Las Vegas trip, retirement, school graduation, or special events. A money lei will not wilt or die. It may be cherished forever, as long as you can overcome the temptation of undoing the lei.
